Raw One Piece cards are gorgeous. The art pops, the foiling is clean, and Bandai’s print quality is honestly better than a lot of modern TCGs. But that same high print quality also raises the bar—because when everything looks good, true PSA 10s become a different animal.
That’s when I realized raw collecting had a ceiling for me.
Once you slab a card with PSA, a few important things happen:
- You lock the condition forever — no binder wear, no humidity anxiety, no “it looks NM to me.”
- You remove debate from the transaction — buyers aren’t arguing over corners or surface; the grade is the condition.
- You turn a cool card into a reference point — it’s no longer subjective, it’s a benchmark.
And that shift matters a lot once you move into manga rares, early OP-01 alternate arts, and limited promos. At that level, one tiny flaw—something you’d never notice in a binder—can mean hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
